History of RBP 592 'Hiram's Chosen Few'
This fine Preceptory proudly takes its place along with the oldest in Portadown Royal Black District No5, having celebrated in grand style it's 100th anniversary in 2003.
It was constituted on the 11th of November 1903 as Royal Black Preceptory No 592. But assumed the title, of ‘Hiram's Chosen Few' on the 10th of June1904.
Kilmore is situated off the main Portadown- Armagh road halfway between Portadown and Armagh and near ‘St Aidens Parish Church' with whom it has close associations, it lies in the area of ‘ County Armagh ' famous the World over for its Apple Orchards.
Also close by is the site of the famous ‘Battle of the Diamond', and some of the members of RBP No 592 being of the surname ‘Winter,' could quite possibly claim to be descendants of the ‘Illustrious Dan Winter' co-founder of the Orange Order.
The first Worshipful Master of ‘Hiram's Chosen Few Royal Black Preceptory 592, was Sir Knt Joseph Faloon, this name is also prominent in the Preceptory, other founder members were Sir Knt's James Hampton Deputy Master, - Joseph Winter Registrar, and James Atkinson Treasurer.
In the 2003 the100th anniversary year, the principal office bearer's were Sir Knts Trevor Faloon Worshipful Master,- Sir Knt Leslie Winter Deputy Master; Sir Knt Simon McAllister, Registrar; Sir Knt Henry Williamson, Treasurer and Sir Knt Gerald O'Malley Chaplain.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of ‘Hiram's Chosen Few RBP 592, a service of praise and thanks giving was held in ‘St Aiden's Parish Church' (Kilmore) on Sunday the 16th of November 2003 at 3.30pm. At the commencement the Worshipful Master Sir Knt Trevor Faloon, on behalf of the Preceptory gave everyone a very hearty welcome. (See Order of Service link for details below)
This excellent service was very well attended, and everyone was invited to a reception afterwards in the ‘Parish Hall', during which the ‘Anniversary Cake', was conjointly cut by the principal Officers (See Photograph links below).
At this time the Worshipful Master Sir Knt Trevor Faloon, thanked all those who by their assistance and good will had made it such an auspicious occasion.
If you look at the picture links below of ‘Hiram's Chosen Few R.B.P. 592 (circa 1933) – it was not uncommon at this time for Royal Black Preceptories to be accompanied by ‘Lambeg Drums'.
